  Van Sant Covered Bridge

Thank You: First we would like to say thank you to the Solebury Police Department for allowing us access to the bridge and making us feel welcome. If you are a paranormal group please always contact the Solebury Police Department so they are aware that you will be there since they do have issues with kids vandalizing and defacing this historic site. Note that there are regular police patrols so if they are not aware of you being there they will stop and make you show identification and they may also take a look around your vehicle for obvious reasons.

History: Van Sant Covered Bridge was constructed in 1875 to span Pidcock Creek. It runs for 86 ft (26 m) across and is 12.5 ft (3.8 m) high and is found close to the Bowman Hill Wild Flower Preserve. Some people think that the bridge is haunted. Sometimes called crybaby bridge because people believe they hear a baby crying that was said to be killed by it's distraught mother (Note: See below - Animals indigenous to this region). Other stories include horse thieves that would use the bridge for cover and rob people. It is said some were sentenced to death and hung from the rafters of the bridge.

Initial Assessment:  This is a beautiful historic location that should be preserved for all generations to enjoy.  Our initial assessment the first time we visited the bridge was that it had a peaceful feeling about it and we would be surprised to find anything out of the ordinary. Read on to see whether this initial assessment turned out to be true.

Audio: Audio was reviewed. Some results will be posted shortly.

Pictures: Pictures were reviewed. Some results will be posted shortly.

Conclusion: We have audio recordings of a little girl on two separate visits to the bridge. We also have a recording of a person whistling very close to the recorder when there was nobody around. These results will be posted shortly and you can make up your own mind as to what the sounds are. Our conclusion is that some interesting things are going on here though they don't seem to follow the stories that are most often heard.

Rating: seems like something is going on here.

Animals Indigenous To The Region: This area is known to have fox around. A baby fox crying sounds incredibly like a human baby crying (we will have an audio of this up shortly). This area also in the past has been reported to have an occasional coyote or bear  roam the area. So when you are at the bridge in the dark late at night just be careful that some unwanted visitor other than ghost doesn't sneak up on you.
